Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Segway?

The Segway Personal Transporter (PT) is a one of a kind self balancing device designed to go anywhere people go. Easy to use and operate. The Segway PT has five gyroscopes that automatically react to your body’s movements, when it should speed up, slow down or to stop. In August 2006 Segway Inc. unveiled the newest models: i2 and X2 with the innovative Leansteer™ technology and wireless InfoKey™. The new Segway models moves in any direction that the rider leans into. The rider stands between the two wheels on a small platform while he/she holds onto a T- bar (handlebar). Segway PT’s operate along pedestrian pathways and walkways and do not require you to possess a license to ride one. Segway PTs are not allowed on streets or highways as they do not meet the minimum standard requirements of street or highway regulations. They are safe and fun devices. Riding a Segway PT is the best way to get around town and see sites of interest.

How safe is it to ride a Segway?

Segways are very safe to ride because of the high-technology that they have. Our thorough training which you receive from our experienced tour guides is enough to make you experts too and that makes you feel comfortable and knowledgeable about this unique device. Helmets are available on our tours if needed. Our routes are smooth and clear providing you with a seamless glide.

What should I bring with me?

You should bring with you a small bottle of water. When it’s really hot out, we recommend an application of sunscreen on exposed parts of the body and a lightweight pair of sunglasses. During the cooler seasons it’s important to wear an extra layer of clothing and consider bringing gloves and a scarf . If it looks like rain we can provide you with a plastic rain poncho.

Can everyone drive a segway?

To join our Segway tours you will have to meet the following requirements:
Riders must be over 100 pounds and less than 250 pounds (46-113 Kilos).Riders must be able to easily and quickly step on and off the Segway without assistance, which requires physical abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without any assistance or use of a handrail. You must be physically self-sufficient.
The Segway is not appropriate for those weighing under 100 pounds (45 kg) or over 250 pounds (113kg). It can be ridden by people from ages 12 to approx. 70. For participants from 12 to 17 years of age we require a waiver to be signed by a legal guardian. You can not take your child on your own Segway! Pregnant women should not do a Segway tour because of obvious safety reasons.

How fast is a segway?

Our Segways are speed limited to 8 miles per hour. This can be compared to a fast walk or slow jogging. In some cases we can change the maximum speed to 12 miles per hour, but only if you feel comfortable.

Do you offer private tours?

Yes we do! You may enjoy one of our classic tours or even request a specially tailored one where you decide what you would like to see! Just contact us and we will be glad to help. Departure time can be decided by you.

What happens if it rains?

In case of heavy rain before the tour start we will always try to postpone your tour to another day or time. If it starts to rain during the tour you will be provided with free ponchos by us (which you can keep after the tour). The Segway is safe to use even in rain. In the worst case where it rains too strong and you are unable to postpone your tour we will issue a voucher for a free Segway Tour valid for a whole year.
